Āṭisārā – Śrīpāṭa of Śrī Ananta Ācārya
Description
Āṭisārā is situated in the district of South 24-pargaṇās. One has to take a train from Seāldaha-south railway station in the Diamond-harbour route and get down at Bāruipura station. From there, one and half miles away by auto rickshaw at Bāruipura old market, on the east- ern-side of Śāṅkhāripāḍā this Śrīpāṭa is situated. Or else, one has to get down at Śāsanroad railway station in the Diamond-harbour route and can come to this Śrīpāṭa by five minutes’ walk near the Bāruipura mar- ket. Or one can avail a bus bearing number 80/80A from Gaḍiā and come to the Bāruipura market.
This is the Śrīpāṭa of Ananta Ācārya. Śrīman Mahāprabhu, after taking sannyāsa, started His journey towards Nīlācala from Śāntipura. He was walking through the bank of the Ganges and reached this Āṭisārā village where He spent one night in the house of Śrī Ananta Ācārya. Mahāprabhu spent the whole night there by speaking about the topics of Kṛṣṇa. Next day He started from here towards Chatrabhoga. This is described in Śrī Caitanya- bhāgavata (Antya- khaṇḍa, 2/51-52)-
sei āṭisārā-grāme mahā bhāgyavāna
āchena parama sādhu - śrī ananta nāma
rahilena āsi’ prabhu tāṅhāra ālaye
ki kahiba āra tāṅra bhāgya-samuccaye
One most fortunate saintly person named Śrī Ananta lived in Āṭisārā village. Mahāprabhu came and stayed in his house. How can I describe the limit of his good fortune?
Presently, in this Śripāṭa, the Deities of Śrī Nitāi-Gaura and the footprint of Mahāprabhu are worshiped in the temple. The service is being nicely administered under the subservience of Barāhanagara Pāṭabāḍi.
