Śrīpāṭa of Śrī Nṛsiṁha Mitra Ṭhākura

Mayanāḍāla is situated in the district of Bīrbhūm. One should get down at Aṇḍāla station by train from Bandel and from there one can come to Pāṅcaḍā station by Aṇḍāla-Sāiṅthiyā route in chord line. Or else, one has to get down at Sāiṅthiyā by train from Bandel towards Rāmapurhāṭa and from there one can come to Pāṅcaḍā station by Aṇḍāla-Sāiṅthiyā route in chord line. From there one can travel six kilometers by rickshaw-van to reach this Śrīpāṭa. Or else, from Khayarāsula at a distance of four kilometers, one can come to this Śrīpāṭa via Pānasiuḍi village.

This place is the Śrīpāṭa of Śrī Nṛsiṁha Mitra Ṭhākura. This Śrīpāṭa is famous as ‘Kīrtana Tīrtha’. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu and the charming Deity of Śrī Śrī Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa are worshiped here. Once these Deities pawned bangles of Their own wrist for serving the guests. Parboiled rice and lentils (Masura ḍāla) are offered to the Deities here once in a year. The worshipers give the reason for this-once one devotee desired that he will offer parboiled rice and lentils to the Deities. At that time the worshipers refused to offer all these. Afterwards Mahāprabhu ordered them in a dream to cook these items. Sine then, on the day of Dola-pūrṇimā, parboiled rice and lentils are cooked and offered to the Deities.

Mitra Ṭhākura was the disciple of Maṅgala Ṭhākura. Nṛsiṁha Mitra was the resident of Rājura village near Kāṅdarā. Nṛsiṁha’s mother had the disease of ‘giving birth to still-born babies.’ By eating the chewed betel-leaves of Maṅgala Ṭhākura, Nṛsiṁha took birth and his life was fully dedicated to Gaurāṅga. Being instructed in a dream from Mahāprabhu, he went to Mayanāḍāla and installed the Deity of Śrī Gaura.
