Sāṅcḍā-Pāṅcḍā

Śrīpāṭa of Śrī Dhanañjaya Paṇḍita, one of the Twelve Gopālas

Sāṅcḍā-Pāṅcḍā is situated in the district of Bardhamān. In the railway track of Bandel-Bardhamān, one can get down at Memāri station. At a distance of three kilometers from Memāri is Sāṅtdeule-Ājāpura and from there again at a distance of seven kilometers is situated this Śrīpāṭa. This is the Śrīpāṭa of Śrī Dhanañjaya Paṇḍita, one of the Twelve Gopālas. According to the description in Śrī Vaṁśīśikṣā book-

paṇḍita śrī dhanañjaya vando mahābala
sāṅcḍā-pāṅcḍā grāma ye kaila saphala

Śrī Dhanañjaya Paṇḍita was very powerful and he made this Sāṅcḍā-Pāṅcḍā village glorious. As per Śrīpāṭa Nirṇaya-

sāṅcḍā-pāṅcḍā karaṇdā śītala-grāma
dhanañjaya paṇḍitera sevā aneka bidhāna

Many rules and regulations of worship were introduced by Śrī Dhanañjaya Paṇḍita in the villages of Sāṅcḍā-Pāṅcḍā, Karandā and Śītala-grāma.
